The purpose of this paper is to invite discussion of some fundamental steps in designing a research project on social representations of values, human rights, and ethics. The scientist‘s own representation (i.e. own definition) of the phenomenon social representation is in the focus. A first record of data is analysed and categorised in four types of representations. This yields some questions that are posed as a conclusion
